The “Behind the Web” mini-conference was held on April 26, 2018, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am in the HPNP 1404 auditorium. 78 website administrators and editors were in attendance. This session was recorded, and some presentations have been made available below.

ACCESSIBILITY, Part 1 – The User Experience & The Law
Jeff Stevens introduced the audience to some of the key policies and laws about accessibility that have recently taken affect, followed by a demonstration of using a website as a person with impairments.

USER PRESENTATION – CTSI Site Redesign
Deaven Freed walked through a “before and after” look at the CTSI website and the tools she used to revitalize the website content to increase the effectiveness and usefulness of the website for UF researchers.

USER PRESENTATION – MailPoet
Lauren Irizarry will show you how she accomplishes sends promotional newsletters to potential donors to increase awareness of events and fundraising campaigns for the UF Health Office of Development through the MailPoet plugin for WordPress.

ACCESSIBILITY, Part 2 – WordPress & Accessible Content
Nina Trombi will continued the discussion on accessibility by focusing on how accessible site content can be achieved through WordPress and how to evaluate your website content using free accessibility-checking tools online.
